The Long Island association
of USATF is the local governing body for the sport of Athletics
in Nassau and Suffolk counties. The track and field committee
serves several purposes. Developing interest and participation
at all levels is of primary importance. Opportunities for youth,
open, master and disabled athletes to perform up to and
including the highest possible levels is key to our mission.
Managing, promoting and conducting competitions and supporting
other like-minded organizations is an important aspect of our
effort. The local association is also responsible for
sanctioning events in our area to offer insurance coverage and
assure attention to rules and matters of safety. The track and
field committee is open to your suggestions and welcomes all who
wish to contribute their time and talents.

To all Meet and
Road Event Directors: "The
following shall be considered assistance and therefore not
allowed:
"(f) The visible possession or use by athletes of video, audio,
or communications
devices in the competition area. The Games Committee for an LDR
event may allow
the use of portable listening devices not capable of receiving
communication; however,
those competing in Championships for awards, medals, or prize
money may not use
such devices."
