Presentation of the Distinguished Service Medal of Suffolk County to Maria Michta-Coffey, two-time Olympian.
Representatives from the Nassau and Suffolk County Track Coaches Associations, NSCHSSA, and USATF Long Island have come together to select the All Long Island Athletes for the spring track and field season.
Maria Michta-Coffey won the 20K Race Walk at the US Olympic Team Trials securing her spot to compete for Team USA at the Rio Olympic Games.
Several past & present Long Island athletes will be competing this week for their shot on the US Olympic Team.
Maria Michta-Coffey walked 10K in 44:09 Sunday, April 3, clobbering the previous record of 44:17 set by Michelle Rohl in 1995.
