Several past & present Long Island athletes will be competing this week for their shot on the US Olympic Team.
Maria Michta-Coffey walked 10K in 44:09 Sunday, April 3, clobbering the previous record of 44:17 set by Michelle Rohl in 1995.
Representatives from the Nassau and Suffolk County Track Coaches Associations, NSCHSSA, and USATF Long Island have come together to select the All Long Island Athletes for the indoor track and field season.
Lauren Harris of Sachem East earns the title of Girls Athlete of The Indoor Season after smashing the 1 mile Race Walk National Record at New Balance Indoor Nationals.
Maria Michta-Coffey tied her own American 20K record (1:30:49) at the Asian Championships on Sunday, March 20.
