  • Welcome to USATF Long Island Masters Athletics

Now, more than ever, people are exercising as a way to stay fit in both mind and spirit. USATF Long Island encourages a healthy lifestyle by promoting Track & Field as a sport for people of all ages. USATF Long Island provides many opportunities for Masters Athletes (35 years old and over) to participate. Masters compete in 5 year age groups (35-39, 40-44, etc...).

Whether you are just starting out, a recreational runner or competing in World Championships, there is a USATF Long Island event for you. USATF Long Island organizes several track meets throughout the winter, spring and summer where athletes can run, jump and throw against others their own age. Also, in cooperation with USATF sanctioned races, USATF Long Island holds both a road racing and cross-country grand prix where athletes compete in 5 year age groups, (Masters begins at age 40) and earn points based on their performances.

In addition to the physical improvement in their lives, Masters Athletes enjoy the camaraderie of their fellow competitors. Many Masters Athletes join clubs which offer training tips and partners as well as providing motivation and support. There are also many opportunities for the clubs to compete as teams against each other. There are many clubs on Long Island for road and distance runners as well as some clubs that specialize in track & field. For a listing of some of the clubs on Long Island click on the Related Links tab on the left. You can also find members of these clubs at most running events on Long Island.

To get started you, may want to attend an event. There you will see the wonderful community surrounding masters track and field in action! Check the masters events listings often, as meets are added constantly. National championships may be found on the USATF website here. You may also want to view our Masters Hurdles Specifications and Implements Specifications.
